Hortus Viridarium - Part 2

$

Here is my update for May on Hortus, only a small part so not much to see!  I'm only stitching one part a month as I know what I am like with Chatelaines, I have no discipline and it will be finished in the blink of an eye and these designs really need to be savoured IMHO!

Love seeing everyone's updates - keep them coming!

Finished: Japanese Moss Garden

The Japanese Moss Garden mandala is finished!!
I did substitute the bugle beads around the sandy center for little delica's because I was not content about the way the bugles did fit in their space.
Stitched on antique white linen with all the recommended threads.

Another milestone...

Beaded Dragonfly Tile Update

$

I have finally gotten Beaded Dragonfly Tile out again; I was waiting for summer to get here, so I have actual daylight to work the black fabric with. When I signed up for this and got going on it as soon as my supplies all arrived, I got the middle darn close to done by the middle of April, 2013:
Beaded Dragonfly Tile as of 4/16/13 - fibers & beads as charted, on 28ct black jobelan

And then I didn't touch it again all last year, because I got into a serious FINISH IT mode, and worked on other things, as well as spending time on my bigger Chats. But finally, after taking a sampler break after finishing the massive part 3 of Desert, I decided it was time to get the Dragonfly back out last Thursday, and worked on getting the inner border in, so I KNOW it's in the right place, before I go add the other 2 dragonfly outlines. Here is where it was as of Sunday night (I got the right side inner border beaded last night):
As of 6/8/14
And a bead detail:

I am keeping this out for the time being - this is on my To Finish list for this year, so hopefully I'll meet my goal; so many things are hollering at me, it's kind of hard to concentrate :)

And just a question for everyone: as you are going along, do any of you constantly wonder if you are going to have enough beads? I keep putting more out on my Tacky BOB, and I keep going through them, and I'm not even half done, and until I get the very last one on, I keep worrying over having enough! LOL

Chinese Garden - Parts 4&5 done

Greetings All,

I have been stitching but not posting.  The East and South moon gates went quickly as well and I am now working on the West moon gate.  Part 6 should take a little longer as it also includes the first corner vignette as well as starting the inside border.  And now pictures, same progression as usual.

I'm not a fan of the blue in the hills around the Great Wall.  On the left side it seems like the shade of blue is just off, it should be smokier or more green gray and on the right side of the wall I can't decide if it is the sky, then the back stitching shouldn't be continuing past the last tower into the sky or it is more of the hazy distance and then again it is too blue.  Then again maybe they are snow dusted hills on the right.  I probably won't rip it out but it is tempting.  I'll watch it a little longer as I fill in around it, especially the left blue patch.

Fortunately the canyon view hasn't caused me any angst.  Except maybe the yellow gold back stitching in the water at the bottom . . .

It has been a while since I posted an update on my Taj Mahal Mandala Garden WIP.

I've spent most of June stitching on Taj and made a heap of progress, with both the top and left sides of the outer border, and flower borders all but complete. 1 Taj building almost complete and gradually working my way into the middle as I start on the right side borders at the top.

Here is where I was on my last update.

And here is where I am now

Happy stitching everyone
Deb

I finally did it! 5 years later, the stitching on Japanese Garden is finished! I am so very excited.  I have all my beading things ready to start tomorrow.  I started this on April 22, 2009.  It is stitched on 28 ct. Mississippi Blue Cashel Linen by Silkweavers.
It's not perfect and know what? That's okay with me. It shows my progression I think as I learned. Image

Secret Victorian Garden Update

With the start of summer weather,  I was afraid my summer stitching slump would hit, but so far, so good.  Secret Victorian Garden was on the frame this week and I am happy with the progress that I made.  When I put it away last, it was here:

and now, it is here:

Still a lot of stitching and beading left, but a finish by the end of this year seems to be a real possibility. Running to hide from the bad stitching karma that is surely headed my way for saying that!!

Hello All!

Marvin here...I'm a grad student on the East coast, enjoy cross stitch immensely. This chatelaine was one of my first projects and I continue to work on it. It might have been a little difficult as a beginner project, but it is so beautiful!

So here's where I'm at so far:

I've really enjoyed looking at everyone else's beautiful work....such amazing designs and stitching!

Thanks for looking!

Slow progress!

Not a lot of progress this month.  I've managed to stitch a little more down the right side of the square... but clearly not concentrating very well because I've stitched the little over-one fish two threads further down than charted.

 photo IMG_20140713_092556_zps32b6e0fd.jpg

And the four turquoise ...shells?  wheels?  Yup, managed to miscount the other side of the temple and stitched five instead of four.   You'd think with the light evenings I'd be able to make a better job of following a chart :(

Some serious frogging to do before I go any further.  Hey ho.  Good job I liked this fish.

I am almost finished with this, I needed some invisible thread which is currently working it's way to me.  But I was too excited to wait and I placed the crystal instead.  Please excuse the wrinkles as I haven't ironed it yet.  There are more pictures on my blog.

Thanks for looking!

Let the beading begin- Japanese Garden

The first two weeks of July I worked on beading Japanese Garden. That was for my open week, then my normal JG week.
Let me just say, I love beading! What fun. WOW do the beads really make it just POP.
I am grateful to the chatelaine Facebook groups who helped me get my supplies. I made a tacky bob, which works great. I also got a tip to this bead nabber. Can I just say, best invention ever? I was quite worried about picking the beads up, as my hands shake all the time. I had images of beads everywhere but my handy bead nabber really worked great.  I only lost a few beads and I was able to find them before they got away.
I have hopes to get this done my my birthday- October 14. I think it's a very realistic goal. I can't believe after over 5 years, I'm nearly there.

Hello all,

I have continued to work on my Japanese moss garden, but got panicked it would not fit on the fabric - so up and up I stitched to see if it would stitch! And, I think we will be ok .... phew!

As it were, this means I've been skipping around, but eventually it will all get done, right?

Happy stitching everyone, thanks for looking!

I did get a little more than this done but I forgot to take a picture before I put it away.  I was forced to put some beads on because I ran out of a color.
