Secret Victorian Garden Progress

I don't think I put more than a few dozen stitches into Secret Victorian Garden last month, but every stitch done is one stitch closer to finished.

Can't see the progress?  I have a hard time seeing it too -it's those blue stitches right above the backstitched motif with the heart.  I am hoping that my stitching mojo will return and I will have more to show next month.

Chinese Garden - Part 6 and 1/2 Part 7

Once again I have been stitching but not posting, I also took timeout to stitch a small piece for my neighbor's 16th birthday.  The letter E from Nora Corbett, it was a fun break, especially as she is an Elizabeth too.

Back the the garden, part 6 is done; the last moon gate and the first corner.  Part 7 is half done but I have to roll up the scroll to finish so you can see what's done and then I'll post the rest probably with Part 8, the final corner and the whole border before the phoenixes.  Yeah!

No changes to the West Moon gate though I think it looks more like some sort of eroded steppes rather than a terraced rice patties.

As for the NW corner I shifted the two highest Algerian eyelets in the bridge up one space to make a better curve.  I thought four eyelets in row looked odd.

In the NE corner I wish I has separated the dark red thread to one strand in the over one on the koi, the red looks too bulky in comparison to the pink.  I did when I outlined the fins and think you can see more definition.  The other change I made was instead of Rhodes for the lily pads I used Algerian eyelets but alternated sides while stitching so that I didn't get a hole in the middle, I wanted something that reminded me more of lily pads which have the great lines/veins running into the center of each pad.

Lastly I did the inside of the inner border on both corners.  It certainly dresses it up!  Now to stitch the bottom corners.

Please don't kick me off for posting a non-Chatelaine but I just wanted to share with someone! :-)

I swear this goddess is doing a shoulder shrug at me!

"Yes, I know you don't want to have to backstitch me for the 8th time, but..."  (shrug).

"Yes, I know you want to get on with stitching the border but...." (shrug).

This final temple seems to be taking me a long time to get through, but I'm not going to skip forward and start the next part until I'm finished.  I'm NOT!  (Say it like you mean it!)
I just need to stitch in Athena's spear so that she can give me a sharp poke instead of giving me attitude!

(It's a bad sign when you imagine your cross-stitch subjects talking to you, isn't it?!)

A Past Finish and Progress on SVG

Now where have I been? I know I check in here every week or two and see what great stuff everyone is up to, but I don't seem to have posted here when I finished Beaded Dragonfly Tile! In my defense, work has been absolute chaos since my boss announced his imminent retirement, and then all the fun of getting my baby to the first day of his last year of high school - and well, it's almost the end of September now, so yeah, I'm a bit behind.... :)

Anywho, here is my completed Dragonfly Tile, which I put the very last bead on on 7/25/14 (see how late I am??)

Completed on 28ct black jobelan, with the as-charted threads, except the inner border that was supposed to be black, I changed to the Caron Waterlilies. And here's a detail shot of the bling:

My eyes were happy to be done with the black fabric, and then I moved on to other things. But then, a couple of weeks ago, after struggling with the beads on GP Witches Wheel (boy do these delicas have me SPOILED), which did get finished, and then a bit of time on BR Celtic Banner, I heard Secret Victorian Garden calling my name; I've seen lots of WIP photos of it in the last few weeks, as though I needed more convincing :)

I am working parts 6 and 7 together, one quarter at a time. Here is the week before last's progress, the Top house:

My SVG is on 28ct Pewter jobelan, using all of the called for fibers & beads. Here is the overall as of this past Sunday, when I completed the Left house, too (apologies, I cannot seem to flip the image :( ):

I plan to continue on with SVG this week and next, hopefully having parts 6 & 7 completed. Then it will get put up and I'll move on to something else - I have 2 more projects that I WANT to finish by the end of the year, so I better get cracking!

Happy Stitching, everyone!

No photo to show for my progress this month on Japanese Zen garden....

I had to spend the month riping out the green mossy stones on the left side, resulting in negative progress :( .... at least now things might line up better.

Hopefully October will bring a better more positive amount of progress!!

I'm finally finished. It took over 5 years but I did it. I am so unbelievably proud of myself. I have never completed such a big, complicated cross stitch project. This project saw so many firsts. Life has changed so much in the 5 years. It isn't perfect either and know what? I'm more than okay with it.

Can I say I'm a chatelaine addict. I can't wait to start my next one! For now I will bask in the glow of having it done.

28 ct Mississippi blue linen, silk weavers. Stitched as suggested, npi converted to Hdf.

Another Secret Victorian Garden Update

Not a lot of stitching has happened lately but I was able to get some time in with Secret Victorian Garden.  When I last posted, it was here:

Unfortunately, I misread the key and had to pull out all that blue but after the frogging it was fairly smooth stitching to here:

I hope to finish the green on the willow tree and the windows in the wall before its rotation time is up tomorrow.  And yes, there are two different colors in the willow branches.  I misread that color too way back when and didn't notice until I was much too far along to frog so I changed the rest of the corners to match.

My Art Nouveau Sampler is creeping ever closer to a finish.  This weekend I finished the yellow flower and started on the leaves.  I hope to have them done tonight and move to my name and date!

I'm still working on Taj Mahal Mandala Garden.  I've now completed the left and top outside and flower borders and working my way into the middle section.

I'm so loving seeing this design come alive it is a true pleasure to stitch.  My photo is progress up to 14th October. Hopefully I will have another update soon.

Happy Stitching everyone,
Deb

Forward progress

This month I finally made some forward progress....I'm loving how it is shaping up. I've deviated off pattern, and work as I please, as opposed to in any logical order or completing one part at a time. I'm sure I might regret this later, but for now, I'm enjoying it as it allows me to work through different colors :)

Hmmm, looking back, it hasn't been as long as I thought, but still a while.  Secret Victorian Garden had its week in the rotation and I got it to here:

The right corner is done through part 10 and there is a bit of part 9 finished on the left one.  I did stitch a bit more than shown here but I put it up before I took a picture.  I am getting close enough to a finish that I can really see it.

Just thought I would let my fellow stitchers know that Vikki has pulled the silk floss from her website.  She is still filling orders it appears if you know what you want but unfortunately the pictures are no longer there.  I get the impression this will be a slow process but she is planning on closing up shop.

So if there is something you know you want or a few extra spools just in case now is the time.  I personally love using her silks and will be sad to see her go.

Her website is http://www.hand-dyedfibers.com
